>>> "we should stop doing the ill-advised thing"

I would be interested to hear some examples, if you feel like sharing what you had in mind.

[ETA] I'm not looking to debate them, if that's making you hesitate. Just curious about what you are seeing here.

Preach it, brother.

I personally think it would be better to have more discussion of what's actually wrong with the US, and the Democratic Party in particular, and how one might go about actually fixing those issues.

I can absolutely see how just about anyone could become a Republican, or at least decide to vote for Republican(s), unless they were personally in the MAGA cross hairs, whether as a queer person, an immigrant, or even a female ill-suited to a life as a broodmare/servant.

Re. Trump being a bad candidate. Yes and no. He does bring a passion and voters Romney wouldn’t get in a thousand years. All told, you may be right but I don’t think Hispanic men would have voted for any Republican but Trump.

Institutions can do as they please, they won’t stop Trump. I fully expect him to defy the Supreme Court in the near future.

And, yes, to paraphrase Matt Yglesias, being right about policy and everything is helpful.

What’s really interesting about the far left takeover of academia/NGOs/traditional media etc. is how much left leaning but nonetheless reasonable people just rolled over and surrendered. This staggering display of cowardice by elites is what got us into this mess.

And now the cure is turning out worse than the disease, as it has many times throughout history.
