If you’re on our holiday card list, one of these is making its way to you with the kids’ actual names. If you’re not, well, here’s a pseudonymized digital version. For $50,000 you can have it as an NFT (that’s $5K for the digital file, $45K for making me figure out how NFT’s work…).
I’ll probably schedule a Links Dump post for Sunday, for the putative benefit of anyone who’s bored and looking to avoid family (but mostly to get rid of some of these open tabs). Pretty much the only way you’re going to read anything more substantial than that from me in the next several days is if somebody in the family tests positive for Covid and we end up not going to my parents’ this afternoon as planned.
Barring that specific sort of disaster, though, we’re off to spend Christmas with family, including seeing my sister in person for the first time in a good while. This is going to be a weird one, particularly the Christmas Eve dinner with the Polish side of the family, as it will be the first in my lifetime without my Uncle Joe and the first in 25-30 years without my grandmother (I think there was a year or two in the 90’s when we went down to her house instead, but I’m hazy on the actual dates). We’ll miss them both terribly, and that makes getting the rest of us together even more important than usual.
Anyway, this is not as cleanly festive a Christmas season as we were all hoping and expecting just a few months ago. I hope everybody reading this who celebrates has the best Christmas possible under whatever circumstances you find yourself in, and for those who don’t, I wish you the best for whatever holiday you use to mark the waning days of 2021.
And to close, here’s the back side of the digital card above:
